This is an introduction to the Jagath Bandaranayake Business Studies Book, written by Jagath Bandaranayake in 2011. The Purpose of this book is to provide knowledge in the field of business studies in a short and comprehensive manner, for use as a learning management system. This book also provides learning opportunities to all those who do not have the opportunity to go abroad for studies or degrees – these people could use it as a supplement to their educations. The book is divided into five sections, that will be explained in the following paragraphs. The first section consists of an introduction to business studies and how the contents of the book are structured. The second section describes the meaning of Business Studies and discusses different areas of business studies. This part also defines what a university degree in Business Studies consists of. The third section explains the structure of "Jagath Bandaranayake Business Studies Book" and its sections. The fourth section discusses a list of examples where students can use this book to supplement their education until they return to Sri Lanka. The fifth section discusses how to improve the book itself, based on issues raised by the Sri Lankan Ministry of Education, although this suggestion is quite out of line with its purpose. The contents of this book are divided into five sections, each with time frames to cover. The first section is for students who require two years of study in order to obtain a degree in Business Studies. The second section can be used by all students enrolled in a university program, regardless of the time they spent studying Business Studies before. The third section is for those who have completed one or two years of college work but are not completing their degrees or are taking some other type of post-graduate course that does not require them to complete papers or assignments. The fourth section is for those who have completed three years of university education, but are not completing their degrees. The fifth section is for those who have obtained an undergraduate degree but are taking post-graduate courses that do not require them to complete papers or assignments. The sections are further divided into units. Each unit serves to cover one specific aspect of Business Studies. The units are divided into sections, each covering a specific theme within the unit. The unit will provide an introduction to the theme presented; it will provide insights on the field of study; it will provide examples and references; and finally, questions regarding the content discussed in that unit will be provided. The book consists of the following units: Section 1 of this book provides an introduction to business studies. It defines key terms used in this book, and it discusses general areas of study within the field of business studies. Section 1 also provides the structure of a university degree in Business Studies. Section 2 discusses important areas within the field of management. It is subdivided into four units that will be discussed in turn. Each unit contains a description of that topic, followed by applications to real-life situations and questions to test student’s comprehension about that topic. 8eeb4e9f32 59
